Thames Wellness Academy (trading as Berkshire Yoga Training) is a women-owned wellness education provider based in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. We deliver Yoga Alliance Professionals-certified teacher training, CPD, workshops and retreats.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Thames Wellness Academy is the data controller for personal data described in this policy. Our website is published at berkshireyogatraining.co.uk.

What this policy covers
This policy explains how we collect and use personal data when you:
- visit our website;
- email us or use other direct contact methods;
- enquire about or join our programmes (including when online forms are connected in future); and
- take part in our training, workshops or retreats.
It does not cover third-party websites linked from our pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Personal data we may collect
The information we hold depends on how you interact with us. It may include:
- Contact details: name, email address, telephone number and any message you send when you contact us.
- Enquiry and application information: details about your experience, interests and programme preferences when you enquire or apply.
- Programme administration: attendance, assessment and certification records for trainees and participants, where relevant to delivery.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information and pages visited, collected automatically through our hosting and content delivery network (see below).
Website forms (current status)
Our contact, join, journal newsletter and other online forms are not yet connected to a backend service. Submitting a form on the site does not currently send data to us automatically.
Until those forms are operational, please contact us directly by email at [email protected]. When you email us, we receive the information you choose to include in your message.
When forms are connected in future, we will process the data you submit to respond to your enquiry or manage your request. We will update this policy if our processing changes materially.
How we use your data
We use personal data to:
- respond to enquiries and provide information about our services;
- process applications and administer programmes;
- communicate about bookings, schedules, certification and related administration;
- maintain our website and understand how it is used at a general level; and
- meet legal, regulatory or professional obligations where they apply.
We do not sell your personal data.
Lawful basis (UK GDPR)
We process personal data only where we have a lawful basis under UK GDPR:
- Legitimate interests: to respond to enquiries, operate our website, administer programmes and communicate with prospective and current trainees, balanced against your rights.
- Contract: where processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a training agreement, or to perform that agreement.
- Consent: where you have clearly agreed to something optional, such as marketing emails or journal updates, when those services are active. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.
Third parties and international transfers
We use trusted providers to host and deliver our website. These may process limited technical data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare Pages hosts the live site at berkshireyogatraining.co.uk and may log standard request data (such as IP address and user agent) for security and performance.
- GitHub Pages may host a mirror of the site for development and backup purposes, with similar technical logging.
- Google Fonts is used to load the Figtree typeface. Your browser requests font files from Google when you visit our pages.
- Google Maps is embedded on our contact page to show our Berkshire area. Google may collect data when the map loads, governed by Google's privacy policy.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
We do not currently use Google Analytics, advertising trackers or a cookie consent banner on this website. If we introduce analytics, marketing tools or non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before those technologies are used.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our static website does not set first-party marketing or analytics cookies that we control. Your browser may store cookies or similar data when loading third-party resources (for example Google Fonts or the embedded map). You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above, including:
- Enquiries: typically up to two years after our last meaningful contact, unless a longer period is needed to follow up on a programme.
- Trainee and participant records: for the duration of your relationship with us and a reasonable period afterwards for certification, queries and professional requirements.
- Server and CDN logs: for a limited period set by our hosting providers, usually for security and troubleshooting.
We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed, unless we must retain it for legal reasons.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate data;
- ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- data portability, where applicable; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Children
Our programmes are aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 through this website. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal data, including using reputable hosting providers and limiting access to information we hold. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected here.
